Van Der Graaf Generator

Profile:
Formed in the UK, 1967 by Peter Hammill, Chris Judge Smith and (now deceased) Nick Pearne. After a period of activity during the 1970s, the band broke up (although not for the first time) in 1978, seemingly for good. The "classic" line-up of Hammill, Guy Evans, Hugh Banton and David Jackson, reformed the band again in 2004 and have since released a new studio album "Present". Since September 2006 Van Der Graaf Generator worked as trio, without David Jackson.

Reviews & Discussion

Review by bassandtreble May 10, 2012 (edited 16 days ago)
Very very influential band to the punk movement, which it predated for at least a decade, thanks to its nihillistic lyrics and their sometimes avant-garde and dissonant jamming, not to menyion the high esteem it was regarded by Johnny Lydon of the Sex Pistols, among other mavericks of the punk scene...
