Voivod was originally formed in Canada in 1982 and with their debut album in 1984 they became one of the very first thrash metal bands. Since then the band has developed further to appear as a more laid-back progressive rock band. They have more or less broken up a couple of times but are now back again with a new line-up, featuring ex-Metallica Jason Newsted as a studio musician.
