Zim Zum joined Marilyn Manson after original guitarist Daisy Berkowitz parted ways with the band in 1996. Zim Zum was one of 150 people to apply for the guitarist position in Marilyn Manson and one of the only 15 to audition.

Zum traveled with the band on the Dead to the World tour and wrote select songs on the Mechanical Animals LP. Zim was eventually fired for not attending band practices.
