Migrations is a music radio show presented by Jugoslav Starovlah and Marko Stojovic. You can hear their eclectic music choice (future jazz, soul, hiphop, downtempo...) every Tuesday from 20-22h CET on independent radio "Antena M", in Podgorica, Montenegro. At the same time, the show can be heard live through the internet. Besides that, every show will always be available for download on our website.



It's not easy to describe contemporary music. Those that claim that music has become just an product of industry, a predictible template print, I have to mark as pesimists. Because... how can we not discover so many artists that, using the present moment and the possibilities of modern communications! and technology, are creating new and exciting musical forms. And if we notice the love for the music of old masters (of jazz, soul, funk, etc.) and their influence in these artists' music at the same time, then we can expect releases full of emotions and soul, thoughtful and original, but very often with unpredictible rhythm and shape. Koop, Jazzanova, St. Germain, dZihan & Kamien, The Roots, Bugz In The Attic... to name just a few of them.
That kind of music is a world of its own and in Migrations we are going to travel through that world. Whether it is broken beat (if it's broken, don't fix it!), soul, jazz, hiphop, downtempo, drum'n'bass, funk... we are going to be there!

Migrations Radio Show is having its #200 edition tonight. Migrations show has been around for four years, since October of 2003. Each Tuesday Mr. Montech delivered his view on the contemporary music scene, that included genres like broken beat, house, hip-hop, modern funk, soul & jazz, but never forgetting the old masters, the true originators. Each Tuesday until this September, that is. After more then 180 shows, it was time for young forces to come in and carry the tourch further ;). Goju has taken over the lead for Migrations Radio Show and he has been doing a great job since, with great musical selection and constant promotion over internet. Mr. Montech still joins him once a month with his choice. So we come to show #200. It will be a 4-hour edition, with two hours (2nd & 3rd part) led by Mr. Montech and his retrospection selection, and the other two hours led by Goju (1st & 4th).

13.01.2009. Migrations Radio Show #254, by Mr Montech: In this edition, you can hear Mr. Montech's recommended tunes from 2008. Without a strict chart of singles and albums, this show puts together representatives of most interesting releases from the last year. Each of the songs from the list has a reason for being here, but I will ask to you pay attention to some more than the others.
Beginning with singles, here is "Township Funk", infectious afro minimalistic house thing, then "How Bout Us", which bounces with its each beat, "Blind", a song that you practically could not avoid last year, and two very unusual, but beatiful songs - "Giant (Pilooski Edit)" and "2 Hearts (Studio Version").
Regarding albums, I would wholeheartedly recommend Q-Tip - "The Renaissance", Jazzanova - "Of All Things", Quiet Village - "", Jose James - "The Dreamer" and Nitin Sawhney - "London Undersound".
