I am a new member. In the early 80s I was a DJ in Rotterdam. Later I lso sometimes worked in a drive-in-disco. My collection (about 3000 records: only LP's and 12 inches: not 7 inches) goes back to the mid-seventies untill the mid-nineties. I also own some "strange" (re)mixes: about 300. I am a BIG Cowley-fan. He died much to soon (12-11-1982). I think I have most of his records and some stuff he produced. Like the Cowley remake of the Hills of Katmandu; the remix of Tana Gardner in 1978 (a fingertip praktice for Cowley's famous remix of Donna Summers I feel love) and some other rare records. Now: the most original label (BEFORE the Megatone-label which he owned together with Marty Blechman) on which his own music came out is the FUSION label from San Francisco. Discogs says there are three records on this label in the early 80's: the numbers FPSF003,004and005. I own all three. The Fusion version of Megatron Man (no5) is better (I think anyway) than the Megatone version. Ít's also more rare than the Menergy-album (no4) and the 12 inch of Menergy(no3). After a long search I bought the Fusion Megatone-version a couple days ago on this site :-) My question: does ANYBODY KNOWS what the numbers FPSF001 and 002 on this FUSION-label where ? I mean: what artists and songs were on this first two records of Fusion ? Perhaps they do not exist because the adressnumber in San Francisco of Fusion was no. 3..... practical joke :-) If you know something about this: please let me know. And also if you are a BIG Cowley you can also let me know. Perhaps we can chat a little. I also have some records twice (spare) so if you own something special of Cowley let me know... perhaps we can trade something. Regards: Henry Serne alias DJHENtheMEN Bissia wrote:

serne and welcome!
Just wondered if you (or anyone else here) had Patrick Cowley Dancefloor Classics 1 and if so could you tell me how it sounds (not the music which i know is great) but the mastering and pressing quality, as obviously it's a bootleg. mikeburns wrote:
the sound is ok, fairly loud & clear, but not as good as other pressings. i think especially the long tracks suffer a bit, ie. i feel love & hills of katmandu. i only have other bootlegs of these (on ballroom & automan) but they sound better, especially in terms of the stereo image...

I'm also a big fan of patrick... All my Patrick Cowley 's are listed this way: Primitive Patrick Patrick in Katmandu Megatron Patrick Patrick's hunt Tech-No-Logical Patrick etc...i love you Patriiiiiiiiiiiick :/// cowley's sequencer work is great he realy has his own sound. hills of katmandu on automan is an Edit, very similar to original version. So similar that it seems stupid... releasing originals would always be better. So as Magnifique - Magnifique is an edit on automan. For cowley's fan i recommend: Megatrone Women a cool reprise of famous Megatron Man by Native Love (2) under rated up to me. mikeburns wrote:

Another first hit released on Fusion Records was 'I Got A Line On You', Patrick Cowley's new version of the song that was performed by Randy California in the year of 1969. He aslo met Frank Loverde at The City Disco, for whom he composed the song "Die Hard Lover", which was released by Moby Dick Records, which in turn would have another version performed by Linda Imperial.

surprised if it qualifies as Electronic. Has anyone heard this track? I used to see in in the fleamaket bins and never bought one, nor listened to it with my own ears. Bissia wrote:

thediscomaniac, it's downtown.music who actually started this group ;)
Probably the Electronic Genre is selected by default and sie forgot to remove it, or some electronic elements are included, which isn't too unusual for some Disco or Jazz-Funk tracks, as for that 12" i wonder if it's actually Disco and not Jazz-Funk but we digress from topic here/ Bissia edited this message 2 months ago. What about Indoor Life? I never had the chance to listen anything about that short trio and so i wonder how it sounds and feel.

I was curious about Indoor Life for a long time, then got the 4 track 12" recently and have to say I was pretty disappointed, maybe just because my expectations were so high.
