From the 313 list: It is with a heavy heart and great regret that I announce the passing of Ron Murphy. I was called with the news that he died of a heart attack sometime today. Most of you already know of Ron and how important he was to the creation of Detroit techno so there's not much else I can say. A fund will be setup hopefully tomorrow to help with funeral expenses. I'll pass on any additional details as I get them. Mike Grant adamx wrote:

He will be remembered worldwide for his dedication to Detroit Techno artists from day one. Records won't sound the same without him. Rest In Peace. Haze wrote:

Ron did most of our pressings for Direct Drive, Bonesbreaks & Grooveworld. Nevermind the fact that we enjoyed doing work with NSC, But he was the fabric of Detroit Vinyl Mastering and an important part of history.

A sad loss to say the least. paulo_m wrote:
I have to admit that I didn't know who Ron Murphy was and the fact he was behind NSC. In my younger days I remember looking at cool Techno records searching for the NSC stamp, and being delighted when it was there. Very sad, respect to him and his family. God bless :(

According To The Plan, Ron actually helped revolutionize the cutting process he invented the x2 cut, now records cut like that will never happen again. he had a great ear for lows and he knew better than to compress a record too hard, that sound is now gone forever http://www.detroitdigitalvinyl..._Part2_RonMurphy.mp3 http://www.icanproductions.com/ron_murphy_museum.mov RIP to an Innovator joe_melling wrote:

Not wanting to be churlish, but it seems doubtful he did. Check the section called 'Paralell grooves' in this wiki: The Full Monty Still, no doubting he made the technique synonymous with NSC in dance music. Bissia wrote:
