I've been playing this next set nearly non stop since i recorded it a couple of weeks ago. There is just so much good music in this (nearly) 80 minutes it's hard to know where to start.

Firstly there are a couple of 80's tracks in here but they are so good and they fitted the criteria so well i just had to include them. As the title suggests i was looking for tracks that really had a predominately funky beat but with jazz elements in it. I always promised a board member (hi juan) that if i got the chance i would put a certain track in a mix, and that track is Dave Valentins "Sidras Dream" with Marcus Miller on bass and here it is. The other 80's track in this selection is from George Howard. "Asphalt Gardens" is just a beautiful piece of music which i couldnt leave out even if i wanted to. As for the rest, i could write something about all of them (if i liked typing) most of the artists you will know or have heard of anyway others you might not ever have heard of but rest assured it's all good.

So hard finding this sort of stuff (even on discogs) managed to bag this the other day though - http://www.discogs.com/release/656889 - and the first track will be going on the next one of these i do. fits in perfectly with this type of style.
