There were allot of people there. Ron was a HUGE part of all of us and i was happy to see who actually came out for it. The crowd that showed up was the real core and love behind the scene here in Detroit and it really moved me to see how many people felt the way i do about Ron.

I talked with him about discogs every time i got in there because he knew I'd been a member of this site for a long time. He absolutely loved the idea behind Discogs and mentioned several times that he really wishes it would have been around allot sooner.

I want you all to know that Ron Murphy was truly one of us to the very core. He loved everything about vinyl, the man was obsessed. He was a genius and without him there is no telling if everything that had happened here in Detroit for all of us would have ever occurred. Ron really had a love for this that went far beyond what even some of the most hardcore Oggers could ever dream of. When we lost Ron we lost a little piece of uniqueness that helped build everything we hold so dear. Ron loved you all and he dedicated his life to people like the ones on this site.

If there's a lesson to be learned from him it's that life is fleeting and precious and you must do something to make a difference that will carry your name beyond the grave. This is the way you want to go out when you do. Ron will never be gone, he lives on in all the music.

@sgt - I love you man...not like that...lol.....

Thanks for your kind words. Believe it when I say all of us from the Sonic Groove New York family appreciate your words on someone who will live on through the etchings he inscripted on many of our own productions found on black (and sometimes other colored) vinyl.

I'm going to have to find all the releases that Ron encoded messages in that I have in my back catalog. Sometimes the messages ran very deep.

Ron's crazy legacy will be immortalized by all who have made NSC an important part of the mastering & pressing process.

Rest In Peace, Ron.

Thanks Sgt. I hope you conveyed or can convey to his family and friends the enormous esteem in which Ron is held amongst those of us who love vinyl, and that there are people who will appreciate what he did for our music for many years to come.
