The closer ya were to A'dam, the better the sound or as some peeps used them MC antennas for recieving it... hence some rips of the tapes I have are a bit 'hissy' sounding :) DJ's with weekly shows on Radio 100: D-Shake Per Dano Phantomas Mickey V (forum member) Abraxas Paul Jay Gino Edwin B and more... another legendary station in the period '89 - '92 was Amsterdam FM - DJ's with weekly shows on AFM: Per Marcel Kennis (RIP) Paul Jay Graham B DJ Johnson Eng Bo Kho Kees de Koning KC The Funcaholic and more... best days were Monday wid Marcel Kennis who was a MazzO DJ at that time, abosolute wikked and skilled DJ, shame he ain't here wid us anymore.. And the Saturdays ya had the DownTown Top 50 wich was broadcasted live from the now long gone Black Beat Recordstore (now it's Midtown on the Nieuwedijk) where the Top 50 consisted of the 50 best sold records that week... here a show from June 1991 of a tape I saved and ripped, tunes included: Sound Of Now Vol.1, Motiv 8, Fierce Ruling Diva, Designer Loops, Techno Grooves Mach 4, After Dark, Dave Angel, Midi Rain, Inner City, Gangstarr, B.O.P., Bass Bureau, DJ One & Sadomasy, Evil Eddie Richards, LFO, Cubic 22, House Crew, Supermatic, Angel Ice, Cyber Space Tracks Vol. 1, Prodigy, Zero Zero, Shoot The Moon, Space Cadets, Amahl, Set Up System, not edited so hear sum Dutchie talk jibbersih so now and then, LOL! 2 diff files below, one Yousendit, one Megaupload, same June 1991 show, both diff parts .... I used to do some adverts for Bern of Chillin FM, I did the advert that went “to all promoters & organisers etc”, I even did an interview at the radio station with his brother at um! Let’s say north London!! Bern was great! He used to get his DJ’s playing my tunes quite regular, at one time Chillin was about the only pirate radio station on, so my tunes got to be know north London wide :o) Memories! Also! I used to live around the corner from Nick Powers! I first knew him from the CB radio, even back then he used to play music all over the 1 4. Later on in life I used to take him my tunes for the DJ’s at his shop. The last time I saw Nick was at a Camber rave weekender & although I wanted to go back to his room for a little party I was so on one I ended up tripping out on acid & ending up on a bench. The good old days! I have tapes from Sunrise, centre force & Chillin FM, maybe others, so I will attempt at some time to make them digital, I even have the interview I did on Chillin. Oh! Teknonutter! Thanks for your comment about my track ;o) spacework edited this message about 1 year ago. TEKNONUTTER wrote:
No prob m8. Compliments when they're deserved. Did have it briefly in the early 90s, came across it this summer at my local record shop. But it was selling for an extortionate price & wasn't very healthy looking to be fair, told the owner to hold it for a couple of days til I got paid, but he sold it on to an over eager, always loaded, bloodsucking leech lol. C'est la vie :) spacework wrote:

If you could see my face you would see that it is red! I’m not very good with compliments! See the thing is! Excuse this story! Bit bored today :o) The rave scene to me was never about the man/woman who made the tracks it was about the DJ’s creating the right mood with the right tracks in the right place, the people who made the tunes on the decks didn’t matter & it was rare to find out who the person behind a track you liked was, but nobody seemed to care. Nowadays I don’t mind sticking my head up & saying “that was me, I was a little cog in that rave scene” in fact, I’m a bit proud of that. :o) I only ever once put my name on one of the records I released & that was because Razz (Great Asset) said he couldn’t put written & produced by a question mark, I just didn’t think people needed to know me, even back in the day there was no better buzz than dancing with a warehouse/club full of people to a tune I had made & nobody knew or would have cared that It was me, not that I thought “me” was somebody anyhow! I never wanted to be “somebody” (not that I am) & I never realised that these strange little tracks I had made for the local warehouse scene, would be wanted by people in places like Germany to America (as I found out from Great Asset record distribution who for example, wanted ten copies from me for a record shop in Germany,) & would be still wanted by other people in other places years later. I don’t really do forums, this is the only music one I belong to, I don’t have all the usual, profiles, facebooks & web sites that people have & I’m sorry to say this Technonutter! The only reason I’m really here is to talk with “older” ravers like yourself about the old raving days, my favourite time is from around 87/88 to about 91/92. As the years go on I seem to be making more & more spare time, hence I’m here! Hope to speak more :o) PS! Sorry to have gone off topic! Started ranting nowadays as well ;o) PPS! I dont have any spare of the record you lost, I only have a few copies of my 1st, 4th & last EP's/12" AA, as it's Christmas email me a posting address & I'll post a copy of each out to ya. spacework edited this message about 1 year ago. raindance_rob wrote:

I will get my tapes sorted out but at the minute I’m having trouble! I recently treated myself to one of those Ikon record decks that convert vinyl to digital, it works great, BUT! When I try to plug in my tape deck to convert tapes it blurs out on me, I’ve tried everything to sort it, but no joy! I thought sod it, yesterday (funny enough!) I’m going to go & get the Ikon tape deck converter, I plodded off to PC world only to find out the only one they had left was the one on display & I couldn’t get the bloke to let me have that one so I gave up. I hope to be getting the deck converter by next weekend some time, on or off line, & so hope to be uploading tapes quite soon :o) As for the adverts! I really can’t remember how I got to meet Bern, or DJBern as he was sometimes known if one of his DJ’s let him down :o), but however it worked, I ended up doing him adverts for his station & a few other bits, & he used to make sure my tunes were played on a regular basis & I got a buzz from hearing the different mixes that the DJ’s used to do }big smile{. I didn’t do adverts for anyone else but a lot of people who knew the advert said to me that, the loud mouthed cockney type shouting “style” advert was replicated on other stations afterwards, so it might be that shouting thing you’re thinking of! I have got the advert taped from the station myself on tape somewhere, at one point, the tape with my 1st tune as backing track got Uhhum! Accidently got taped over & so they used the other side from then on which was just my voice with no backing track, they used to chuck my voice in everywhere after that, I got a bit sick of hearing it }rolls eyes{ Hope you get your tapes sorted ok & Look forward to hearing them :o) Tkon wrote:

sgannonWas unable to get to Rapidshare all week, seems there's a problem with Sky blocking it in the evenings for some reason. Anyway, can get to it now but can't see an option to create a free account, only a premium one? a up mate you need to click on Free Zone & then Collectors Zone. raindance_rob edited this message about 1 year ago. sgannon wrote:

Here's the first upload (ripped from tape myself so you wont already have it!): Centreforce 88.3 - The Unknown DJ It's sometime in '89 on DJ 1's Birthday. sgannon edited this message about 1 year ago. TEKNONUTTER wrote:

They were my favourite too. I'll upload some more tonight - what next, Centreforce, Fantasy, Dance or Climax? TEKNONUTTER wrote:
Whatever, whenever m8 lol! They're all good. Like to hear some Dance FM ones aswell, haven't any recordings left from those. It'd be good to hear some old voices, EZ-O was one of my faves on there. Jeff B used to do a house chart show every week on there aswell. They were based at Belsize Park, Hampstead I believe, for awhile at least, used to pick them up crystal living in north london. I'm sure I visited their dwellings once whilst at a part-time job delivering a freezer, fridge or what have you lol :)

Loved the new beat/belgian techno stuff played on Fantasy FM aswell. I've found about twenty more cassettes of Chillin, Fantasy & Pulse, getting them ripped is a different matter though, tape deck problems every single time. Need to kindly ask my mate again.. TEKNONUTTER wrote:

LOl! Alright geeeeeeza?? I've got a recording of a show on Chillin / DJ Ranks playing some mad, twisted acid by Terrace & UR stuff aswell with your voice in the background all the way through, "to all promoters & organisers etc" lol :) Mad stuff! Can't wait to put it up.. sgannon wrote:

Have to agree with you there, those DJ’s were doing it, the only other station with DJ’s as good at that time was Sunrise radio, I went to Sunrise radio once with DJ Phantom B as he used to work on Sunrise for a while. I can’t remember what part of London Sunrise was in but I remember the transmitter’s aerial was in the tower block opposite, those Lads had to do some moves to set it up. Sunrise used to do a Camber soul (but rave really) weekender, I loved that weekend :o) I went to Centreforces, Runtings rave, a couple of times, if I remember right it was in a scrap yard over east London under a fly over, of course memories are hard enough to remember correctly without being totally off my face at the time ;o) One thing I remember about that place was the row of Dobermans along the fence. Another thing I remember is good music all night long. Yeh! Sweet Mate ;o) TEKNONUTTERI've got a recording of a show on Chillin / DJ Ranks playing some mad, twisted acid by Terrace & UR stuff aswell with your voice in the background all the way through That must sound terrible? I always hated my voice played back to me, when I was recording my stuff & we needed a voice sample sometimes I’d do it myself & then we’d spend the next hour trying out gadgets & affects to change it. I’ve remembered something else about that advert! I was shocked one Sunday morning! It went something like this! Just got up! I switch on the radio to Chillin & the very first thing I hear is “yes, Spacework is another correct answer”! & Ben in Tottenham you said Spacework so you’re correct as well! That got my attention quite quick as you’d imagine! It turned out that, the DJ had found out it was Spacework doing their adverts, & I have no idea how people would know to be able to guess it was Spacework! ( I dread to think!) But, he had the listeners phoning in the station & telling the world ;o) Spacework, as in me, who could be quite easily found, was doing adverts for an illegal pirate station. I can laugh now :o) spacework edited this message about 1 year ago. sgannon wrote:
