wicked mix, Frod'. DJFrodo wrote:
Actually, haven't heard any of the Rampant mix series. Kinda have always wanted to check them out. UL maybe? ? do tell gonna have to check that out thanks! it was actually my third attempt. 1st attempt: recording came out glitchy. 2nd attempt: WAYYYYY too drunk and recorded too loud and even played the wrong side of one of the records. So by the 3rd attempt i was just in a laidback groove. Also had to use the Stanton STR8-80 to pitch the first track up enough to mix into the Technics. Then had to pitch up EVERY record to get to match with each other. Think it started off at about 121bpm and ends up close the the 140bpm range. Last 2 mixes were ummmm "there" but was happy with the rest. djindio wrote:

Oh yeah, small mistake on the tracklisting. Guess i played the wrong side of a record again. Guess I didn't play "embrace your love" as the ending track....oooppps. No wonder how come the mix seemed a hair off to me! Oh well, I like "Tempest" better!

Wow neat! I have two releases on this label, they're very strange dance music tracks with breakbeats.. I can't figure out what sort of set these are suppose to even belong to or what era they are from.

That's what was so strange for the good and bad of west coast techno around 1995. It was trance, it was techno, it had breakbeats, it was influenced by house parties but tried to have some funkiness in there too. For the good and bad again. They didn't age to well but if you grew up in the west coast it has allot of memories. Good or bad;) TIM wrote:

looking at mapquest i'm about 4 hours away @TIM yeah something about the early-mid 90's that's will always hold it's place in my heart. when things started seperating from and just being only old skool (back when EVERYTHING was breakbeat) and started going into different genres...(just the most unique tracks!) edit: just picked up #14 off this label....nice one! I'm now quite familiar with this sound. This is the sort of stuff that got played at many of the local raves in 1996-1998. I had a nickname for this type of music, "Pussy Trance", meaning weak trance, not hard. Another name was a "Scott Henry Set", because this is the sort of music he would play at 5am when the sun was comming up. I didn't like this kind of music at the time but my tastes have changed since I've gotten older. I now like anything that reminds me of going out and having a great time in the 90s even if it means listening to old trance and funky breaks. Good stuff "Frodo", thank you very much for posting this! I'm going to make it a point to listen to this in two weeks time at top volume on my stereo. Shame I missed out on doing so last weekend.
