Leitmotif & AEK - Deep Techno November 2008 (2hrs)AEK wrote:
A 2 hour mix, first section slowly building, and the second hour bringing it back down. The tracklisting isn't as straightforward as it seems. There is a lot of layering of tracks going on, using multiple loops and edits. If you want to know what is playing at a specific time feel free to ask one of us.

Oh AEK, this does look good indeed, just worried about the track durations +/- 3 minutes on a tune, not long enough for me to enjoy it.

I prefer long plays it's just a preference, but it does look tasty indeed thanks for sharing,I am on the Download. AEK wrote:
Don't worry, like I said, the tracklisting isn't necessarily what it seems. If you aren't familiar with some of the tracks it might be very difficult to follow what is playing where without the tracktimes. There are points where 3 tracks are playing, and some of the tracks aren't played fully, merely sampled. For example, I constructed a loop from I.A. Bericochea and layered it over the top of Retina.IT for several minutes. It's very complicated, but certainly the tracks/mixes aren't rushed... you'll see (hear) ;)

looks very interesting... just need to listen to it... thanks paulo_m wrote:
You should be very proud of this one chaps, it's very nice indeed. This requires a few more rotations to fully appreciate the depth. Forgot how good the Carl Craig mix of Catatonic is. I love it when a mix from someone else prompts you to dig out an old tune you haven't heard in a while.

Btw what's the tune with the nice synths at around 31 minutes? Leitmotif wrote:
Many thanks (on behalf of AEK and myself) for feedback all!

Unfortunately that's not me, that's part of the Heiko Laux track, which comes in @49.15 or so. The Leitmotif 'track' is really just a one-minute bridge I created to join the two mixes. I only list it because it took me several hours to make. That's the Ozy one, from a superb album that has lot of tracks in that kind of sound. Leitmotif wrote:
Those who liked this will be pleased to know that a 'sequel' will follow (by definition) in which AEK plays the warm-up and main set and I play the afterhours set. I'm looking forward to that immensely.

Have started sorting tracks for the next mix already, though it will likely be a month or so yet. GENRE wrote:
Liked it a lot, very subtle and sophisticated. Good flow and some great tracks. Sound quality was not great and would to get my hands on a .wav copy of you have it. :P

Am intrigued, what is it with the sound quality that's not great? It sounds fine to me. I have to turn my stereo up a bit louder to get the same volume as a CD, but that presumably has something to do with the fact that most record companies put out CDs that are mega-amplified (above the 0dB holy grail level of sound engineering) so that their CD is the loudest, which distorts the sound to the trained ear. I keep strictly below this level to preserve sound quality, but then you have to turn it up a bit more to get the same volume.

just sounded a bit flat and not that bright (consistent with what you say) ill put it through my hifi for another listen and get back to you. seriously though you should host at 320kbps ; punterss should know by now they are getting a quality mix and should be patient enough for the download

No problem, am uploading a 320kbps version to www.net-mix.org (click on 'djs' and then 'will kelly'). I could always give the whole mix a bit of tweaking to boost treble or mid-range if need be. Might have to feed mixes like Hawtin's DE9 into Cubase to check whether they exceed 0dB.

but sewriously, saved & archived. even my girlfriend said it was good. i didnt like the trak before Lux,but playing "data" layered with crawling and hungry's intro is definately a good idea. saved & archived. more thoughts and complaints when i give it 5-10 listenings.. (edit: data -> find a way. perfect, and i appreciate the short mix here, 9 out of 10 ppl would play it together for 90seconds or longer just because the two go together well. not this time though, good job) fixia edited this message 11 months ago. A very weird coincidence. Am listening to this now and thought I'd have a look on Discogs. I think this is the best mix I've done combined with (in my opinion) the best mix AEK has done.
