Aye but it's not going quickly enough for me. I did pay for a private course and have looked into things the college/school can't teach me for myself. I have learned a lot but some of that has been the business side of things as well. Like royalties and how they're collect and split up etc. I now hear and listen/hear things totally differently. In a sense its good to be gaining production skills and knowledge but on the other hand it takes some of the ignorance of what sound is away and that used to add to my listening experiance.. if that makes sense. neurp wrote:

yeah, i think i went through some of that years ago when i was pissing around on some gear. but more and more i find myself getting into stuff that i could never get my head round years ago. also have changed the way i use the eq to get better sound from either badly mastered or pressed vinyl, it seems its better to remove a frequency than turn one up. neurp wrote:

I really must get myself set up with a decent way to record mixs also. Im so fucking useless, all i have is a cassette deck to record stuff. TIM wrote:

i'm just too busy listening to new music than creating mixes or mix cd's to give to people. i really want to sit down and catagorize so i can do some old skool mix tapes type of ideas to friends. no mixing, just old skool mix tapes compilations. i am going to stop buying sooner or later so the time i spend listening can be to creating. i do need to get a new cd player so i can burn cd to cdr though. my cd player is on it's last leg. 10 years old this year neurp wrote:

I just got DJM800 so I used only EQ's and built in filters etc to crossfade the tracks instead of the Xfader. On that mixer they're called "Colour" I always had a set way of EQ'n stuff which is a really bad habit and I need to break it. I listen to stuff on two different sysyem at home and these are never a reflection on a system while playing out, which is a rare occasion for me these days. What I once thought was cool as fuck techno (and still is to a certain extent) I now know was just clever use of effects and so on. Back on subject If there's a tune I'd insist on at my funeral it would be this!! grigorij.ffm wrote:

rile3eWhat I once thought was cool as fuck techno (and still is to a certain extent) I now know was just clever use of effects and so on. i love the way Mills uses filters on his early stuff like Waveform Transmissions and X103 Curse of the Gods is a fav for that. just dug that out not heard prolly since the 90s dont remember liking it grigorij.ffm wrote:

Noticed that on ratings. The ADSR dub would make my top 5 if I HAD to make one. All down to taste really though innit? It holds sweet memories for me that one too! The difference is night and day mate. The only reason I upgraded so soon was Pioneers marketing ploy to up the prices. I got mine a few hours before the prices rose in April... for a bag of sand! LOL! Was referring to seek or the likes just to hear it. Wonder how much insurance is it out of curiosity! LOL! neurp wrote:
