Awesome, thanks a lot moshka. I remember a mate of mine had some Faust and Gong records and vaguely remember getting wrecked listening to some of those but can't recollect what they sound like at all. Never heard of the others but will check em all out. Nice one, cheers :)

Wicked, thanks very much for that mosh mate. I do actually have that Chrome album and a few of their others, dunno why I didn't mention them at the start. Brilliant band, way ahead of their time, hard to believe that album is 30 years old. I'll go on the hunt for the others and I may very well take you up on the kind offer of rips if I don't have much joy. Thanks again mate, much appreciated :)

I'd never really heard of that band before I came to discogs, dunno how they passed me by all these years. They've clearly been a big influence and inspiration for many as well, really have to check em out. spa5tik0lonz wrote:

Yeah that's a top one as well. I really like Red Exposure as well, that was the first Chrome album I got. More straight ahead but still got that fucked up sound, wicked album. Blood On The Moon is great too, even more straight ahead, more punk than anything but still tops... I didn't check that link properly, just assmued it must be the band Tangerine Dream! I've been checkin out some Kaleidoscope, yeah sounds great! Early Syd Barrett Piper At The Gates era Floyd sounding, exactly the sort of thing I'm after. Nice one mozza! RhubarbRhubarb wrote:

this is a *bit* of a stretch... their first few albums are "rock" oriented but really raw... this period is followed by a "classical" sounding prog ambient thing which is followed by their "serial" minimal arpeggio orient thing. dont ask me about post 1976, i just dont know. of course i might be generalizing a bit but... i think the best TD album is "Zeit" followed by "Atem".. the arpeggio stuff is ok, but i have never given it a heavy listen in recent years.. You might really like Ash Ra Tempel.. their first album is like the german answer to Santana's Santana - Caravanserai. pure sky church music. some people on the faust list REALLY like bands like Magma (6) and Van Der Graaf Generator ... these are reoccuring subjects every 6 months with lots of gushing and raving. i also do not see Residents, The above. this band is a must. Residents, The - Fingerprince will flip your whig. HRD_Shmoo_XIII wrote:
moshka, you've done the same as me and not checked the link properly. mosh hasn't linked to the band Tangerine Dream, it's an album by a UK band called Kaleidoscope, hehe :)

Cheers for the other tips btw moshka mate. I remember a mate of mines dad had a massive collection and he was well into the Residents. I remember him playing some and I didn't dig it at all but then I was only 11 or so then. A lot of music I didn't 'get' then I love now so will give em another go :)

Amon Düül II is fantastic. Phallus Dei, Yeti & Wolf City—all classics. Cluster, Cluster II—also a classic. And if spacey is really your bag Popol Vuh may be the band for you. I am a huge Robert Wyatt fan, and would suggest giving Rock Bottom a listen. If you like that he is still making great music—his two most recent releases being fine examples. spa5tik0lonz wrote:

This thread has done wonders for my music collection and made me very happy for the last month or so. I'd like to go into detail about what I bought and what i think of them all but I'd be here all night! Let me just say - Ash Ra Tempel, they were one of the first I checked simply because I liked their name and fuck me, that's some of the best shit I've ever heard! Got their first two albums and absolutely adore them. Took a bit of hunting down and they weren't cheap but my they were worth it! And Amon Duul II, oh my goodness, truly amazing! Probably the best recommendations I've ever had! As I said I could go on and on but that'll do for now, will probably be back later with some more comments. Thanks again to all for the great recommendations!

Sperm* - Shh! Heinäsirkat wild LP. think the best noise guitar "riffs" from sonic youth but add in raw electronics, some horns bleeting a wailing.. deconstructionist madness. id equate it with some sun ra, throbbing gristle, stockhausen...as well. moshka-medicine wrote:

Pekka Airaksinen - One Point Music is getting a repress too in early fall (this is first hand information..btw) which is very nice as the original runs 500e+ a bit more raw than the sperm lp, certainly more experimental oriented. HRD_Shmoo_XIII wrote:
