It holds a big history to Techno Music, but the city itself is history. It almost feels like Chernobyl. Though this is not really an Electronic topic, it still is something worth checking out which is why I posted it. apeiro wrote:
Even the Techno related documentaries talk about the current state of the city of Detroit, and its center which is turning, if not already being considered a ghost town.

Thanks to everyone...I was really unsure about posting it thinking I was going to get people angry being that it was nothing to do with Electronic Music.

But on second thought, It is those conditions which created Techno and all it's history that came after. Imagine living in those conditions or similar ones. You really could not escape the fact that half a cities population moved away. If you stayed there, you would want to escape and people began doing that through Midi and Music. It gets deep when you go onto 10th Planet type shit. There is no doubt that the mental plane Juan or Jeff or anyone from Detroit could go on after watching that video. cosmicdream wrote:

One concern: Just hope it gets filmed and scripted warts and all without any artistic liberties being taken. The history and what is needs no further dramatization or any fictionalization for impact or effect. From my own visits and shooting the city. It's next to impossible to capture a bad image within that much decay. The city speaks for itself. Just show up; point and shoot. My guess is the social history and the peoples stories would be pretty much the same. djfrankiebones wrote:

Probably Detroit at it's finest in The Aftermath. Look it up on Google Images. People get really creative in this art project. djfrankiebones wrote:

i find it really interesting that the wildlife and the animals are in the process of adapting and feeling the change from a industrial city to more of a agricultural city while the humans have not. the despair of the people in the video although it may be due to drugs etc have the feeling of defeat. nature and animals have moved on while humans feel defeated. makes me second guess what is success and what is not. what i mean is instead of buildings meaning wealth and power why not a forest or a well grown and prosperous garden meaning the same. very moving video djfrankiebones wrote:
The People Mover. That always tripped me out. It just goes round and round. Not too many people use it. I would sit and watch it going round from my hotel.

Riddle me this? When you post the same exact video that I started the topic off with and then say it got wider attention? I'm just wondering how you figure? I must have not gotten the memo about that. apeiro wrote:

What i meant it got wider attention exactly cause you posted about it here. Although i consider myself quite keen on the use of the English language, it's not the language i speak in my outside of the Internet life. djsaiz wrote:
