http://www.discogs.com/groups/topic/116535 A short explanation: I want to participate, how to? 1. To sign in just leave a short message in the sign in thread. For planning purposes it would be nice if you also sign out for whatever reason. 2. Register at the DMT Homebase (if you haven't yet) with your exact discogs name and e-mail some time before uploading because we have to verify you as discogs user. 3. Record your mix and title it without your DJ or discogs user name, just eg "My_Beat.mp3" because it's anoymous again. Then upload your mix(es) to a host. 4. To submit the mix go to the homebase and log in, then submit the mix by filling out the required fields and hit 'submit'! Done. MONK edited this message about 1 year ago. MONK wrote:

To submit a mix to the tournament or to write comments and to vote, you need to register with your correct discogs user name and correct e-mail address (in case you forget your password). If you registered last time and forgot your password you can reset it. Verifying the registered user as discogs users is necessary to avoid fake registrations for voting own mixes. With every new registration, an e-mail is sent to tecxx and monk and the first who sees it, checks the user for their discogs profiles and rank etc. If everything's ok, your status will be switched to discogs user and you can submit a mix and vote. = it takes some hours till you can submit a mix after registrating. For non-discogs users it's only possible to write comments. [Details for the "Submit a mix" page.] During the sign-in the DMT #5 page will only show the mix names to avoid double names and to show the ammount of mixes we already have. After the sign-in the entries will get their playlists and links for the download and comments / vote. MONK edited this message over 3 years ago. MONK wrote:
Some general rules you need to follow:

- the mix has to be at least ~40 mins and max 60 mins (strict) - max 1 Mix per DJ in the whole tournament (incl. a DJ in a team) - you need to submit a playlist with your mix! for common views, please use the 01 - Artist - Track Name (Remix) format - digitally created or edited mixes are allowed, but must be stated in the playlist as such! - any additional information how you created the mix is welcome (equipment used, etc.) - keep a mix file under 150 MB - the mixes are anonymous again (see below) - your mix has to be exclusive (not posted anywhere else yet) - mp3 is preferred, ogg is accepted too MONK edited this message over 3 years ago. Anonymous mixes

Why anonymous? Since DMT #2 we keep everything anonymous, so unknown discogs users have a chance too and the listeners vote the mix itself and not their forum buddies + it's a free minded way to listen to the mixes since you concentrate on the music and mixing itself and not the DJ behind it + you get more constructive and detailed comments as by posting in the regular mixes forum. After the voting process the download page will be completed with the user/DJ names. Mix Files: Please create a mix file name without your DJ / user name just like "Jack_In_The_Box.mp3" or "Pumping_Mix.ogg". Try to use unique mix names so listeners can remember the mixes easier. Avoid everything that could be a hint to your identity. Also no own id3-tags inside the audio file!!!* Please check after encoding (in winamp double click the scroll bar, in foobar, check properties) cos some applications automatically add tags. All we want is a bunch of raw audio files in a folder with nothing but a mix name and a playlist. The duration limit, mix name and id-3 tag are the most important things here, so pls follow the rules cos we don't want you to upload your mix again! Links to own homepages will be hidden with the re-director tinyurl.com. *waxdj.com automatically adds id3-tags to the files, but waxdj is not allowed as host anyway MONK edited this message over 3 years ago. Hosts and "Submit a mix"

You need to find an own host for your mix(es), cos on the "Submit a mix" page you just enter the url addresses into the DMT Homebase, not the entire mix! We recommend you to upload your mix on a second host and to submit it as 2nd URL. Allowed hosts: - own homepages. submit the direct link ending on *.mp3 or *.ogg so we can hide the link with tinyurl - MediaFire.com: Everything's unlimited, no waiting counters, ok d/l speed. Perfect host as it seems. - DepositFiles.com: 250 MB max, fast speed!, no d/l amount limit, 30 sec counter - MegaUpload.com: 250 MB, 45 sec counter, very reliable host - RogePost.com: 100 MB max, no counter, fast and easy, no upload status field, hits counter, test download after upload! - MegaRotic.com: 500 MB max, 45 sec counter, very reliable host (don't mind the pr0n!) - Spread-It.com: 500 MB max - FileFront.com: 1 GB max, Create a fake account! Not allowed: - any free host site that tells your name, not including own homepages, cos the direct link can be hidden - YouSendIt.com: registration needed to download - RapidShare.com: extreme download limitations - waxdj.com: too many problems with their server since they exist, creates id3 tags - BestSharing.com: often not working, slow, they have massive server problems - FileFactory.com: too complicated to get the DL link - MegaShares.com: 1,5 GB but 1 d/l in 7 days and 5 d/l in 25 days needed to keep up - ShareBigFile.com: extremely slow speed! - SendSpace.com: most often "There are no d/l slots available" Bad! - TheUpload.com: slow speed and u/l often not working - and all the other hosts with same criterias "Submit a mix" On the submit a mix page there are 2 fields for the mix url's: Mix link: Enter the direct link for your regular host. Mix link 2: Enter the direct link for your backup host. Tracklist You need to submit a playlist to your mix! Please use this format for a common view: 01 - Artist - Track Name (adding labels / cat# is ok too). If your mix was created digitally on PC or has PC edits or includes mp3 tracks, you have to leave a note at the end of the tracklist. In any case describe how you created the mix. Any additional information is welcome (equipment used, etc...) MONK edited this message over 3 years ago. MONK wrote:
Comment Rules:

- keep your comments constructive and fair (blatant hate comments will be deleted) - please don't mention how many points you gave! (influences the listeners too much) - If you comment negative, please give a reason why. If you completely dislike a mix, think about not commenting this mix. Maybe it's just not your music. - DJ's: you can't comment your own mixes, but if you feel like giving props for other mixes you can do so - if you DJ's want to react on some comments like someone spreading wrong info, eg this is a digital mix while it's not etc, mail MONK and he'll comment it in your name under 'AnonymousDJ', since you are not allowed to react on such things ; ) Voting Rules: - you can vote 1 mix, more or all - if you want to vote a mix, you should have heard every mix but you're not forced to! - DJ's: you can vote all mixes but not your own mix (too negative votes will be deleted) - as soon as you know about a DJ's identity, you're not allowed to vote for him* (eg hosting his mixes on your server, or being a mate of the DJ) How to give your points: - you can enter 1 to 5 points for a mix while 5 is the best and 1 is crap. It doesn't matter if you give X-points multiple times or one number not once at all, just don't vote everything 5 - the main aspects for rating are the general liking / flow / impression you have and the mixing skills but NOT the style! - try to vote all mixes, keeping a vote field blank will count it as not voted (1 point is the worst to give) - you're totally free in handling the points, your voted mixes could look like this: | 5 | 3 | 3 | 1 | 4 | 2 | 4 | 5 | … - you can view / change your comments and votes at any time before the deadline * tecxx and MONK assume that you trust us and let us neutrally vote the mixes in the sense of the tournament. (like last time we'll forget who is who anyway after a week : ) - due to many different styles don't let your comment / vote get influenced too much by the other comments or by what your favourite style is, open your mind, go on a journey with the DJ and concentrate your review more on the mixing skills and entertaining part of the mix. That doesn't mean in your ears 'shit music shouldn't be voted 1, but in the end we don't want to know what the most liked style under the listeners is, but who has the best mixing skills, or? - it doesn't matter if you comment only and add / change your voting points later or vice versa. Just don't forget to give your points. - to clear a comment / vote delete all text and hit "Vote!". For the final rank listing the given points will be calculated with the Bayes Formular for handling more or less voted mixes fairly. MONK edited this message over 3 years ago. |
