For those who don't know, Colin Faver & Colin Dale each had 3 hour radio shows on KISS 100 FM, a London radio station. From 10pm-1am twice a week from 91-97 us Londoners were treated to everything new and cool in the world of House, Techno, Trance, Hardcore, Ambient, Industrial Experimental etc etc. Anything went! Plus they interviewed all the top producers, Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, the list goes on and on.

Colin Faver encouraged people to send in their own mixes to his show as well as getting well known DJs and producers to send in theirs on a DAT tape. 30 mins max was the limit, with no limit on the styles Most were between 25-30 mins. Except for the GTO mix which went on for 45 mins in a special Christmas show one year...

Result?

These guys changed my life forever!!!

Not only did I get seriously addicted to buying tunes but clubbing too, as they started Knowledge at the SW1 club in Victoria, which ran every Wednesday for 2 or 3 years, and was the first proper Techno club in the UK and uniquely (at the time) imported DJ's and producers from around the world to spin vinyl or do live sets. I went nearly every week, often getting in for free as myself and my best mate at the time often won competitions for free tickets!


I started this thread to avoid myself chatting about this subject too much in other threads! Long time Discoggers will know I'm prone to waffle on about the Colins forever ;)

Thought maybe I could share a few tracklists, and mixes. Possibly a few shows too. I'll keep adding to this post as I go along...

Here are the DJ mixes I can still find. I think there are more hiding somewhere!
I've put the date of the mix where I noted that down on the tape.

I listened to the Anibaldi mix in the car over Xmas and it's got some wkd stuff in it! It was the first time I'd heard it for many years! Don't have a date on that one, but it was probably from 92 or 93.

The Beltram mix got posted and tracks ID's 18 months ago or so...in the mixes forum if I rememeber correctly. Actually Joey (with the help of Pushaman and MSN) helped me ID a couple of tunes that had been eluding me for years :)

I've myself experienced the 2 Colin's shows from summer 95 onward (until Faver leaves & Dale went all tekhouse a bit boring..), at that time, C.Faver was on Tuesday evenings, C.Dale was on Thursdays (I still have some of their 1/2 hour mixes on tapes) + some cool C.Faver late night mixes (replacing Paul Thomas if I remember)
They were the ONLY descent Techno / House broadcasting at that time (girls FM had a few good dj's sometimes...but the FM sound was not clean...pirate stylee)SO RESPECT TO THE 2 COLIN's

It had loads of dub and some wkd stuff in it. On of those shows they broadcast late, late at night, from 1am - 4am or somehing. "Giving it Up" I think they called that show.....

The card is the weakest link for sure! I really ought to get a better one...
