Artist name capitalization help?

ofanse wrote:
Hello. I am well aware of the rules regarding capitalizations throughout the site, but my (piddly) artist page has my name capitalized, and I do not capitalize it intentionally. My problem is, I don't see where I can change this. Any help is appreciated.

You simply cannot change it. It is part of the site to capitalize the first letter of every artist name.

add a note to your profile here:

and while your at it, fill out some more information about yourself.

Not always. If it is clearly the intent of the artist to consistently use creative capitalization, it is allowed, see here:

but the two releases of that artist have the main artist set to sea.envy...what is the main artist page other than some automated process?

I do realize that the usual rules state that every name be capitalized, but there are exceptions, as pointed out by marcelrecords. There are other examples out there too. Since this is possible, how do I go about changing it?

Maybe the second release needs to be voted on before the main artist page changes.

That is a good point. I left a comment on the pending release, as it said the release contained capitalization errors (!!!). Perhaps it will get voted on soon.

thought i'd give this one a bump. well, the release is active, and my name hasn't changed on the main page. i've looked extensively in just about every place that i can think of to no avail. what kills me is that i know this can be done and has been done many, many times. but how????

I filled out a request form because I couldn't find any info on this subject, and I got a reply from nik shortly after saying that it is not possible at this time to edit artist capitalizations. I would be cool with this response, however there is a multitude of other artists with alternate capitalization schemes, so how is it possible for them to do this and not me?? I'm a little upset about this, because discogs is basically telling me "we are forcing your name to be incorrect, sorry". What gives?

The two entries are set to sea.envy
The artist profile is set to Sea.envy
This is because it was first entered this way
It's a bug.

PS. There is currently no method by which this can be changed.
