To create a list just go to a release, artist, or label page and click "Add to List" in the Tools section. You'll have to option to create a new list or add it to an existing list. Comments on the item and List description are optional. But you're required to have a List title. When you're done with your list you can switch it from private to public. Public lists will also get mentioned on the related pages as well as your user profile. Internaut wrote:

Like best "Swedish modern soul songs" list and "top latin america bboy breaks". Most classic Finnish Christmas songs could be one too. If I was a DJ I could make myself some playlists what to play on gigs and select records from my collection. Now only thing I'm missing is the feature to add public comments/Discussion to releases like on RateYourMusic and Youtube videos (and don't mean reviews)! Then discogs would be perfect! comkai wrote:

This way things get linked in a 'freestyle'-way, depending on the users creating the lists. Might be nice for just passing some time surfing through discogs looking for things related to what you like. It'll even feed curiosity (of people like me) for certain records, which can have a positive effect on the marketplace as side-effect. Dr.SultanAszazin wrote:

However, the list display takes up way too much space for my purpose. I would like to be able to switch to a tabular view just like "My Collection" - one line per item, no thumbnail, only the first few characters from the comments field (I'm not going to write essays there anyway), and clickable column heads for automatic sorting. moob wrote:

- Unicode handling is much better. - Release and Master pages will show lists containing the master and any of its releases. - You can delete a list now. The link is near the public/private toggle. - In-place editing of title/description correctly displays the new text after saving. - Add To List is available from the drop-down menu in the release table on Artist, Label, and Master Release pages. moob edited this message 6 months ago. squonk57I wonder how one would sort a paged list with drag+drop ... let's have automatic sort options (by artist / title / year etc.) first :) Hell of a job: http://www.discogs.com/lists/Classical-Composers/396 But... the best result is yielded manual..., automatic sorting quickly would have some annoying issues. (Sorting automaticly on artist 'real' names should be done on the family-name, Sorting on date of birth (in my example) gives problems when dates are not exactly known, ...) A 'position' field for every 'list-entry' would be nice though. Example: 1 entry_A 2 entry_B 3 entry_C 4 entry_D 5 entry_E .... 1324 entry_Z now list item# 1324 should be between list item# 3&4: -> edit position of item# 1324 -> type 4 in the position field -> Apply-button list item# 1324 goes to position 4; 4 shifts to 5, 5 to 6, 6 to 7,... For the first 50 items it's allright, but when the list becomes larger, things start to go VERY slowly using drag&drop... Automatic sorting is dangerous I think, it could immediatly destroy custom sorting as things are saved automaticly too. Except if the sorting option is only for 'display' and doesn't influence the actual list's manual sorting: I would display it as following in that case: 1 entry_B 2 entry_A 3 entry_C 4 entry_G 5 entry_E ... becomes sorted: 2 entry_A 1 entry_B 3 entry_C 5 entry_E 4 entry_G (the manual position# remains the same as it is sorted manually) little_alien wrote:

example: http://www.discogs.com/lists/P...phonys-1964-1968/940 This is a list of a series which contains an intregral recording of Beethoven's symphonies. Because these are released separate and have different content, they cannot be in a MR. So I linked them together through this list. But because only I can edit this list, nobody can add one in case a new that belongs to this list is submitted. So I should start keeping myself busy with checking this from time to time. (That's ok for 1 release, but there are more similar non-MR cases where a list can come handy to group them) That's why I would want to make it Public Domain so anyone can edit it. Maybe this can be done in the form of a possible incorrect vote (but no correct vote needed) such as the MR, to reverse faulty or damaging edits.
