Discogs menus and footer available in other languages

The Discogs header menus and footer are now translated into other languages. You can select your language by using the links at the bottom of the page.

We do plan to translate more parts of the site this year, especially the Submission Form, basic guidelines, and the Marketplace.

Please let us know if you have any questions or suggestions. thanks!

UPDATE 13-Mar-2012:
We are now using Transifex.net for managing the translations. Transifex offers a nice interface for translators who want to help with this project.

If you would like to help us please:

* Create a free account at Transifex. (Be sure to choose the "free for translators" option. Direct link: https://www.transifex.net/plans/signup/free/ )
* Click on one of the languages from our project home page
* Click "Join Team" from within one of the languages

After we approve your request to join you can go in and begin translating strings. You'll also be able to toggle between strings that are already translated, not yet translated, or in need of review.

Let me know if you need someone for the GERMAN translation. The current translation is really funny and doesn't make sense sometimes and at some pages. You should search for some volunteers that translate the pages for each country. But great idea!

FYI, hardly anybody in my country uses German as a (second) language. If it would have been French it would have made some sense, even though I wouldn't understand anything of that either.

GERMAN translation: the current translation is really funny and doesn't make sense sometimes and at some pages. You should search for some volunteers that translate the pages.

There will be more helpers.
Gets interesting when the Guidelines (Führerlinien) will be translated :-)

The idea is great, translations will certainly help many potential users who aren't confortable with English. But you clearly should forget automatic translation.. In French many translations are just meaningless (good luck finding out what "ajouter presse" stands for. If you want the translations to be helpful you'll definitely need some human input. Else it will just give the same result as dropping the entire page in Google translate: not worth the effort.

A good point for the localization/language mapping you use, I'm in the French-speaking Canadian province of Quebec and the Discogs language was accurately set to French, nice :)

I'd rather use "Entdecken" here. It has almost the same meaning, but for me "Musik entdecken" sounds better than "Musik erkunden" (sounds scientifical).

This initial version was done with Google Translate API. Now that our framework is in place we can proceed with improving this and translating other parts of the site.

Personally i understand because i know both italian and uk english(not perfectly but enough)but if i compare myself with someone else who don't know the english language as good as me,i think it's gonna be hard for him.

Not at all,i would use a word 'wydano','release' refers to a time(date), when the content was released.

It will cause misunderstandings in a global world where English has been accepted everywhere as international language. Everybody studies at least a basic English; every one surfing the web knows the simple words used in this site too.
To avoid confusion better to use English only, not returning back to Babel, it's a decline.
