æ was a recording label based in Seattle, Washington, USA from 1994 to 1998. It's focus was on alternative and experimental forms of rock, pop and electronic music.
While active, æ worked with artists and projects such as Pram, Lucid, After The Flood, Cindytalk, Labradford, Windy And Carl, His Name Is Alive, Climax Golden Twins, Mark Olsen, John Massoni, My Diva, Steve Ball (League Of Crafty Guitar Players) among others. Demos were received from projects containing members of My Bloody Valentine, Spiritualized, and Cocteau Twins (Elizabeth Fraser), but the label ended before anything could be finalized.
One of the biggest misconceptions regarding this label was that people thought the name was "Aeterna", when in actuality the name was "æ" (a grapheme formed by combining the letters a and e). "Aeterna" was only used as the name of the label's publishing company for the first 3 releases.
æ was founded by Clark Von Trotha (promotion, sales, distribution, and various business operations) and
Dale Lloyd (graphic design, art direction, production, audio mastering, and various business operations).
The only website currently pertaining to æ is a simple retrospective page on the (also inactive) Overheard And Rendered ("OAR") label site. OAR was a short-lived label (2000-2001) founded by Dale Lloyd that attempted to continue releasing and distributing work by artists affiliated with æ plus work by other friends.
