Adult Records was started just after the summer of 2005 by Paul Hazendonk a.k.a. Prude Polly as a sublabel of the Basic Beat record company and their label Technique (which is now defunct), based in Rotterdam (NL). The label entered the global techno scene with a blast, as the first release, Ko Raketa EP by Marko Nastic and Veztax, was a huge success. After that nearly all the key players in the funky techno scene made their appearance on Adult Records with either a release or a remix. After a while they also gave some fresh talents a chance to release their material. Nowdays the label is widely known as being a sure thing in the sets of all DJ's who support no-nonsense funky uptempo techno.

In 2009 Paul Hazendonk left the Basic Beat company after more than 8,5 years and started his own company called Manual Music. Adult Records is now part of the Manual Music company.
