Afterhours records was a reasonably large Chicago house label with a vibe that fused the sound of simple four-on-the-floor Chicago house with elements of the deep house genere. Releases on Afterhours were generally not as hard as releases on, say, Dust Traxx, but at the same time, they were generally not as deep as releases on, say, Guidance Recordings. Very soulful. Many of their releases demonstrate a gospel
influence, such as Testament's "Work It Out" (the most obvious example).
