This label has put out a series of decent EP's with quite a few classic tunes on, a lot of average tunes, and some trash.
The main thing wrong with these EP's is the shocking quality of the recordings. Make no mistake, they are extremely poor.
I bought a few brand new from HTFR and one was so badly pressed that it would not play without my needles skipping from the edge to the centre. I use new technics 1200 mk5 and ortofon carts/needles set to the correct weights and they work 100% with properly pressed vinyls. The ones that do actually play, sound terrible. Think 80kbps mp3 recorded to vinyl and your not far out....
Avoid these ripoff vinyls and just buy originals of the tunes....

A Great compilation, another classic in the Black Velvet series.

These EP's quickly came to be legendary as they sourced the Original White Labels mixes for these 12"'s, later when the majors came along they got edited or later remade versions. Artists frequently losing the master tape in the time since and having to knock up a new version double quick.
So these are the gems!

Unfortunately they suffered from poor distribution as we have found it very difficult to source them for our shop. As for the quality, well, no problems at all - it does play well and if you have a crap system then anything will sound crap.
This much is obvious.

Anyone looking for Digital quality versions are fooling themselves, bear in mind the originals were mostly recorded on bedroom equipment long before home studios became standard.

This label is responsible for the butchery of some serious old skool classics. By butchery i mean the absolutely awful sound quality. It does not matter what system you play it on, if a vinyl is pressed on the cheap like this it will never sound good. I cannot stress enough that if you are an oldskool dj or collector, do not be seduced by the 5 star tracklist of these releases. Save up and buy the originals. A lot of the original presses don't cost that much anyway if you shop around and play the waiting game.

It is always a risk buying bootlegs. Some are ok if you are lucky, however these are definitely not. I have spent years building my collection and it is so much more satisfying to finally get that sought after original release you have been searching for, rather than opting for rubbish like this. Its really not worth the vinyl its pressed on.
