Reviews & Discussion

This is not light stuff they make. But it's SO different than most of the stuff out there and they really understand how to take the 303 synth and make a great 'melody' out of it. Their tracks are full of dark energy and great, original samples. This music is DARK and will satisfy anyone who loves hard beats, acid riffs, and that touch of evil to their songs. I own so many of these records and absolutely love them. They might not be the easiest to mix into other tracks but it's so fun to sneak them into your sets. I'm really sad they stopped making them- they are my favorite label.
My favorite song is actually #30- Brain Train. I also particularly love #39 Bad Boy and #41- Open the Door. GENIUS.

My first favourite track is BRAIN 19 - I Loose My Mind (Pulsating TB Mix)!!!

This is very crazy ACID RIFFS!!! And very Heavy BASSDRUM SAMPLE made in Psyho Sequence!!!

This is hard acid kick in my mind!!! The BRAIN Tracks is best track ever made which acid sound.
Very heavy acid riffs ,Bassdrums sample which Gated reverb, crazy FX sound and sicked vocals who made a very good work!!!

Second Favourite tracks is BRAIN 32 - Never Trust Your Own Emotions (Main Mix),This is a mega mind drill when the acid riffs go up!!!

For long time, Brain Recordings was one of the most representative german labels for acid-techno in the 90s. Founded by Frank Schreiner, the 'head' of Music Mail based in Stuttgart, Brain Recordings became in a short time an icon of acid-techno made with TB-303. One of the most popular episode was the #2 entitled "Something For Your Mind", licensed also in Italy at the end of 1996. Release after release, Brain Recordings has leave a sign in international music market. Unfortunately the saga was stopped around 2004 when the style of this incredible label was lost into music more close to hardstyle solutions.

Brain Recordings is the Acid Techno homage to the beastly, rare Braintec Transistor-Bass 3 Mono analogue synthesiser.

Formulaic music as it is, each track is a test of every possible sonic boundary the synth is capable of. The ability to hit higher, fully resonant notes than most other 303's/ 303 clones, is demonstrated masterfully and with full ear-bleeding effect in the double bass mix of Observer - Brain 6. Look no further for one of the hardest Acid tracks ever made.

Different acid styles, riffs and strong foundations in heavy kick drums gives each track a familiar edge.

In isolation by track, or in collection by label; Brain Recordings is hard for those who like their acid hard.

Any tune worked in to a strong building set, always takes the atmosphere to the next level.

This is crazy psycho stuff. It is probably called "Brain Recordings" because a damaged Brain is required to like this kind of music! ;-)
Brain records sound all the same: starting with a weird basedrum only, adding some other drums and strange sounds and effects. Then the main brainkilling 303 appears, soft and innocent at the beginning. after 3-4 minutes the 303 fades out, silence, the psycho voice samples come in ("i am a nightmare", "follow the mind-blowing speed of the brain-train" and crazy shit like that).
Now it´s your last chance to escape the high cut-off distorted full resonance mind-destroying 303 frequencies that have their highest level at about 5-6 minutes. Then the track is fading out, finishing with basedrum only like in the beginning.
The 303-like basslines (i don´t know which synthesizers are used) are typically repeating one tone instead of small pauses or slides -> pneumatic drill !
My favorite ones of all 42 at the moment are : #23, #38, #3, #30, #14, #9.
Brain Recordings are something for your mind, your body and your soul ;-)
