Deepfunk Records

Profile:
West coast transplant, producer and DJ Craig Law launched his independent imprint Deepfunk Records in the spring of 2001. The inaugural release, Inner City Experience, Volume 1, showcased tracks from LA’s fast rising superstar, J.T. Donaldson (Undercover Agency), as well as local production trio Blu Bizness, Tony Noodles and Law himself, who also appeared at the D-Train Hustlers. Summer 2002 proved successful with the release of the second in the series of Inner City records, featuring Chicago’s deep and jazzy man, Mark Grant, along with label staples Blu Bizness, Eddie Posadas, Lance DeSardi (Undercover Agency) and Law. In September 2002, Deepfunk released The Rhythm Slaves’ I Can Feel It EP, boasting a strong dance floor storm from Southern France’s Richard Gow and company as well as a dubbed down, deeper version of the original from Seattle’s finest, the Lawnchair Generals. The buzz is all being traced back to Deepfunk’s LA studio. From urban groove and downbeat tracks to upbeat, funky peak time gems, Deepfunk has something for everyone, with much more to come. Cuts from Inner City (Vol. 2) and the I Can Feel It EP have recently been charted by the likes of Q-Burns Abstract Message and the East Coast Boogiemen, while being championed on international dance floors by world renowned DJs such as Derrick Carter, Johnny Fiasco and Miguel Migs. The original mix of “I Can Feel It” has been licensed to appear on West Coast Sessions, a double disc compilation from the UK’s acclaimed Defected imprint; Migs along with fellow San Franciscan and Grammy nominee Jay-J will each mix one disc. 2003 is expected to the be busiest yet, with many more vinyl releases, including the third installment of Inner City, as well as a mixed compilation and a full-length production effort from the Rhythm Slaves. Remixes from the East Coast Boogiemen and The Rurals are also forthcoming. For more information, please visit www.deepfunkrecords.com.
