Reviews & Discussion

Review by memoryboy Nov 29, 2005 (edited over 4 years ago)
Absolutely nobody made any profit from the sale of these very limited releases on Digitalo. License requests were received by Digitalo and were promptly forwarded to the original copyright/publishing owners.

The Milkshake/Stop edit was a light-hearted bit of fun which, for the most part was well received and not taken too seriously. It worked very well on the dancefloor (at least until no one could stand to hear those lyrics anymore, including the guys who made the 'joke' in the first place...)

The label, after two releases, is defunct.

Somebody played me "digitalo 2" the other day and I haven't been so mad in years. To take a classic such as BWH's "Stop" and put Kelis's "Milkshake" accapella over it is very much like having your childhood home bulldozed and replaced with a Chuck-E-Cheese. The fact that "digitalo" doesn't license these tracks is completely wrong no matter how few they press.
These are classic and influential songs that were low pressings originally. The artists most likely made almost nothing off of them originally and now they are being disrespected in a major way.
Italo records have influenced many. Other labels have properly aquired the rights to repress these tracks and their license is being violated. It is illegal. Not only that, but these people have taken this important music and taken it in a disney direction for people with Von Douche hats to dance to.
I hope you get screwed.
