| Profile: | Seemingly short-lived concern launched in 1996 by Bob Stanley and Pete Wiggs of Saint Etienne with then EMI Records (UK) Director of A&R Tris Penna as a sub-label for new talent. First signings were Kenickie, pursued after a recommendation by soon-to-be-labelmate Lawrence (5) of Denim.
Not to be confused with EMIdisc acetate pressings which were widely produced through the 60s and 70s by the EMI vinyl plants as an industry tool for anyone requiring a small test-vinyl run (a precursor to CD-R). These heavyweight pressings (still used in some small, perhaps novelty extent today) do not neccesarily associate the artist with the EMIDISC label or any other or the EMI group.
