| Profile: | Exlibris was founded October 1975 by the Danish book publishing company Gyldendal. Originally named "Exlibris, Gyldendals Grammofonplader", later just "Exlibris Gyldendal", and later on just "Exlibris Musik".
The initiative came from Ole Werner Thomsen, manager at Gyldendal who proposed Peter Abrahamsen (2) the idea.
Exlibris didn't actually sign artists for a number of releases, they created projects and invited artists dedicated to those particular projects to record them.
In the start the label concentrated on releases with a literary content, ie. music based on (Danish) poems and litterature. But through the years they have also released releases containing several other genres, ao. folk, classical music, rock, children's music and spoken word records.
