Fax is unlike any other label out there. I can honestly say that it has changed my life. I've been listening to Fax in one way or another since the beginning in 1992. Sure, my interest waned a bit when I didn't have the time for it (Fax does take time), but something always pulled me back.
The only thing you need to know is Fax music regularly contains moments of sheer magic. Pure brain-tingle bliss. Sure, you have to listen to a lot of material to find the (many) gems, but the beauty of it is your gems will often differ from the next guy's. Just read the 2350 dot org faxlist for an illustration.
Throughout it all Namlook continues to try new things yet maintain something distinctly Faxy. From the earliest ambient hiding on trance records to the recent wealth of Move D collaborations.
I won't tell you which ones are the ones to buy. Go out and sample a smattering. Make sure you try a few from each year before you dismiss a certain era. I apologize in advance if I just doomed you to a life as a faxhead!

Now going into its tenth year of operations. At one time a baffling floodlike addition to the trance market, then some house type things with Stanley Conway, Modula Green and some other releases started including the ambient get down mix, or a drop the bpm to half type mix. All one guy with a fax machine and a cast of characters that has played almost like a whos who of electronica the heros, the how in the hell did he pull that off, the dj responsible for the love parade, the other german guy with as relentless a release schedule and bill laswell. At one point it was a flood of releases every week. A german record with no infomation other than a fax number and a pk with a number inscribed in the run-out groove in a paper sleeve, with some color label maybe yellow, green, black, blue, or red and a dot that eventually had a number, then a meaning came forth as to what the color and the dot meant. Then the plunge to the couch began with a series of brilliant relases. All limited to one pressing, beginning with 500 copies and hovering at about 1 to 2k per release these days.
Impressive to, in that these are very often one take improvisational recordings. You can imagine it's a they can't all be winners type of label which isn't the point really. It's a direct form of communication.
