The Fonoteca is a music library owned by the Lisbon City Council. It opened on May 1994 and is the first and only Portuguese library exclusively dedicated to music.
The Fonoteca aims at providing musical information, with a special emphasis on Portuguese music. It gathers its information from a variety of resources: documental, human and technical. When the desired information is not available in its premises, the Fonoteca will provide an appropriated link.
Looking for the best way to fulfil our main goal - the promotion of music - the Fonoteca has been developing several initiatives, like the support of several releases in association with public and private agents.
