Freeworld Entertainment

Profile:
Created in October of 1997 by a merging of Kevin Czinger's Volcano (2) and Dallas Austin's Rowdy Records.

The label was plagued with financial difficulties and eventually Austin dropped out. A ongoing legal battle with Tool (2) exacerbated the situation.

In 1998, the Zomba Label Group purchased Freeworld and it was eventually changed back to the name Volcano Entertainment.

Austin eventually continued Freeworld when Capitol Records agreed to form the label again in early 1999.
