Geek Records

Geek Records

Profile:
Geek Records is a Leeds (UK) based house / techno label owned by 'Hungry' Dave Clements and Andy 'Shifty' Davies aka 'Spincycle'.
Living in Yorkshire, England, is very cold and boring, so the lads decided to set up a record label to give them something to do between 'signing on' days.
Hey presto, in the year 2000 Geek Records was born.
Initially the label was predominantly set up as an outlet for the lads' own releases as Spincycle, but before long other geeky geezers started to realise that something set them too apart from the rest of society and they longed for a family enviroment where their differences could be understood not feared and disliked.
Little by little Geek Records developed into a kind of 'therapy group' for men and women with the following medical afflictions:-
1, Strong desire to lock oneself away in a bedroom or studio and make music that is largely incomprehensible to the general public!
2, Often pale faced or 'empty-bellied'.
3, Hears things in music that to you (healthy human) don't appear to be there at all, or at least were not worthy of comment.
4, Occasionally in panic situations will revert into binary talk ie. TR909 or ZX81, which is nonsensical to the healthy human. However; amazingly, multiple tests have shown that this is actually a form of communication to the 'geeks' and basic communications can be achieved in this way!
Once the geeks had found each other and united under a common cause, their music began to flow more freely and their differences with the common man seemed to them to be less important. Since 2000, their numbers have grown consistently, their releases have been plentiful and, more importantly, they seem to have found a happy way to exist untroubled by the world outside. To this day, the geeks have lived side to side with normal humans and existed together peacefully. There were some rumours of the geeks purchasing a small Cuban military base in the South Pacific and even an alleged sighting of a massive army of geeks gathering on the island, but all of us at geekrecords.co.uk would like to condemn these rumours as nothing but unhelpful anti-geek propaganda!
