Get Live Records, founded by hip-hop entreprenuer
Dr. Rock, is one of the earliest hip-hop labels to come out of Western Texas (also see
Get Off Me Records). The label helped bring exposure to Rock's group the
Fila Fresh Crew featuring a young emcee by the name of Doc-T (who would later be more widely known as
D.O.C., The). However Dr. Rock was a little too late as his star protege Doc-T abandonded the crew to seek more lucrative opportunities in Los Angeles. Get Live Records consequently dissipated soon after releasing two singles from the now defunct Fila Fresh Crew. Dr. Rock thus left Get Live Records and also relocated to Los Angeles to sign with
Par Records two years later.
