Buying any 12" from GLO would be considered an investment! Major materials, major tunes, major productions....etc. Just by hearing a track and witnessing the experience, you would have no choice but to look for another track!

Good Looking were often criticised for constantly repackaging the same tracks. There's some truth in this - but what great packaging! In addition to very high quality drum & bass and breakbeat tunes, GLO deserves credit for consistently visually appealing, often beautiful, artwork and innovative packaging

In house artists Purser and Jones created some great visual concepts, linked thematically through the various GLO compilation series. I particularly liked the stark simplicity of the "Looking Back" series vs the technicolour landscape excesses of the "Earth" series..

OK, so a label should be primarily judged on the music, but lets not forget that GLO releases were also a visual pleasure to have in your collection

The Good Looking Records label definitely stands for quality drum and bass or if I may say so, honorary ambassadors of Drum and Bass. For many years since the early 1990's this was the factory of the finest, most delightful, melodic and atmospheric drum and bass ever created. Leaded by legendary Danny Williamson, a.k.a. LTJ Bukem, Goodlooking had internal conflicts that ultimately lead the label to sink in the music industry. The latest has been the shut down of their website www.glo.uk.com and www.goodlooking.org that hadn't been updated since late 2004. In October 2005, LTJ Bukem toured the U.S.A. alongside the one and only MC Conrad. In a gig in Saint Petersburg, FL, I asked Bukem why didn't he updated the website, he answered that he had more important things to do such as focusing on music. At this point in time GLO's future is yet uncertain (if it still exists), but in spite of this, if you ever find a GLO record in a store, you can rest assure it is a masterful piece of the best drum and bass music ever produced.

LTJ Bukem's Good Looking Records was a quality drum & Bass label releasing many fine tunes back in the nineties. Unfortunately since 2000 the label has gone downhill a lot. Bukem tended to dominate everything as pretty much all of the CD releases were either compiled or mixed by him and other influential people such as Conrad Shafie (AKA Blame) left the label. Sub labels such as Nexus Records and Ascendant Grooves also disappeared. The Good Looking drum & bass sound soon become very one dimensional with no great variety or innovation anymore. The release schedule also became very slow (particularly in the last two years when they've released very little compared to previous years). Most of what’s coming out now is retrospective compilations. Looking at their website it is obvious it hasn’t been updated for quite some time (the shopping cart and check out links are still there even though the GLO online shop closed some years back). Hopefully we haven’t heard the last of this once fine label.

The Good Looking Organisation, led by the masterful LTJ Bukem, has been at the forefront of musical, jazz and funk influenced drum and bass for about a decade.

Buying a GLO (of any of their sub labels, e.g Looking Good, Cookin etc.) release, you'll most likely not be taken aback by anything truly groundbreaking, but as a label, it's pretty much guarenteed that any release will superbly mixed and produced and the packaging will be stylish and complementary.

Exhilarating, No.
Reliable, Yes.
