Understanding music isn't just a business, it's a feeling. And it's a feeling that can't be learnt with books, courses or lecturers - it's a knowledge that comes from persistence, experience, and love. The Hardware Corporation doesn't just know music, it's an organisation that couldn't exist without it.Like turntables and vinyl, like DJs and dancefloors.

For more than ten years, Hardware has persistently and consistently pushed electronic and dance music to the Australian listening public. Not because it's fashionable or profitable, but because it is worthy of our attention. In no uncertain terms, it has become the future. From the first Hardware event - a fundraiser on a New Year's Eve in 1990 - through to the multi-faceted corporation with interests in events management, artist management, tour operations, music distribution and retail, Hardware has consistently sown the seeds for a fertile music culture in Melbourne.

What separates Hardware from most organisations involved with youth culture is that Hardware doesn't merely aim to create trends for the future; we experience the future every day. From our business involvement with the local and international music scene to our own music productions, we are an organisation that doesn't just talk dance music: we live it.

But experience and persistence aren't enough; a group of people that goes to work every day is a group of workers, not a team of enthusiasts. Leading a market and challenging cultural norms requires more than commitment, it requires love. At the heart of Hardware is love; a love of new ideas, a love of creativity, a love of pushing the boundaries, and above all, a love of music. It is this relationship that has allowed Hardware to take Australian music into regions no-one thought was possible; and it is the reason Hardware will lead the Australian music scene into the future.
