Hooj Choons always looked forward to bring quality music without searching for the unique style. Trance, house, progressive who cares ? Only music counts. Label is now history but definitely the most influenced label with artists from different sources.
Just buy all the releases from the very first one to the very last one and you'll see.
Also pay attention to the hoojman mate who appears on each release. By all accounts this started off as a roughly drawn makeshift logo by Phil Howells Girlfriend. In the early releases this was in crayon. The artwork developed and became more definted with each release. After the 30th or so release the Hooj Man cartoon on the back of each release was inspired by the title on the flip side. We can call this artwork "The Adventures of Hooj Man"

With more than two (or even four) handfulls of excellent releases, like Lustral's Everytime, Tilt, Space Manouvres Stage One, Greece 2000,Viper, and many other now classics, Hooj not only has defined music during the 90's and early 21st Century, and played in clubs around the world, Any respectable DJ still carries a Hooj Choons release in their crate.
But now with their reappearance in the scene, we are looking at another Era of excellent music from this label.
They are not only the spice of life, they are the Chef, with all the right ingredients for a superb musical feast.

In my opinion a label that represents all that trance should have remained. Hooj Choons always seemed to have a knack for releasing tracks that were deep, emotional and story-telling while avoiding the pop-like evolution of trance as a whole. Such artists as Solar Stone, Energy-52, Paragliders (Oliver Lieb), Nalin and Kane, Three Drives and many others released some of thier best works on this now defunct but timeless label. More than just "The Occasional Providers of Half Decent House", Hooj Choons was the epitome of what a label should be.

It appears that Hooj is no more - after ongoing finaincial difficulties, the label has finally closed down. Hooj.com will continue to trade, and all back-catalogue releases currently available will remain so for the time being.

Hooj has done more for the dance / electronic music industry than any other label, DJ or artist. They will be sorely missed.

Hooj is the spice of life.. there's so much variety here, from deep dark scary releases to breaks influenced house, to techno, to progressive house.. Hooj does it all, and they do it well.

This label produces some excellent progressive house that ranges from floor stomping to tribally tinged to deep fun. 16B produces so many remixes and makes great tracks like "The Game." Morel puts many musical elements together to produce some good tracks like the contemporary classic "Escape (driving to Heaven)". To top it off they have acts like LSG (great tracks), marmion (of five years and tomarrow!), and the makers of the "orange theme", Cygnus X. Hooj keeps Seb Fontaine in business!
