Ixthuluh was founded by Werner Ponesch of the same titeled Austrian Kraut rock band Ixthuluh. With his music, he came in touch with 70ties German Krautrock and Punk bands like Ton Steine Scherben and Embryo (3). He started to organize shows for labels like Schneeball or April Records. He soon started to distributed their records in Austria. In 1977 was the beginning of Austria's first mail-distribution. The business grew and soon he was distributen labels like Rough Trade (UK), Ata Tak, Trikont and many others. In 1985 IXTHULUH Music got started, a little label that published 30 releases till the mid-nineties. In 2006 they had to stop after the crash of German distributor EFA that owned 70% of Ixthuluh at that time. They went bankrupt because of EFA's debts. 30 years of Austrian distributon were over.
