Jack Trax

Profile:
Jack Trax (Indigo Music) was formed by Damon D'Cruz in May 1987, with Robin King in A&R. Robin King subsequently departed to run Delerium club and was replaced by Tim Raidl.

Jack Trax released the 'Jack Trax' compilation albums in the UK, featuring licensed material mainly from the USA. The more popular tracks were also released as 12" singles. These compilations provided a convenient way to aquire hard to find/expensive House imports in the latter half of the 1980s. Jack Trax closed in 1992.

Tim Raidl went on to become part of Hardcore Rhythm Team, and some disco remixes in europe in the nineties.

i'd like tput some precision about the cat numbers of the releases : the first Jack Trax 12" has "12 J TRAX ?" numbers , (from 01 to 13 releases).after the cat numbers changed to "JTX ?" (from 14 to 33). then, there was too some represses with different mixes with cat numbers as "JTX-?"(from 1 to 5)the last releases were with blue & red logo, or white & black logo, or only red & black logos labels

The label provided house music lovers a great source and gateway to pioneering tracks coming out of Chicago, Detroit, and New York. But unfortunately, Mr. D'Cruz was a shadey character in his business practices regarding the licensing and publishing of many of songs that are now classics. If you're young and or stupid, you get "sharked" This comes from one who knows and was young but lucky.

PS......LUTON WAS ON THE MAP WITH THIS LABEL! I just regret the day I did not get my hands on all the vinyl stored at the Robinswood address when things went belly-up, their garage was full of vinyl, one day it was there, the next it was gone!!! Remember that Tim?!!!;)

Mysterious, I would not say that about this label, but then I knew the guys and this label was popular in all the record stores I used to shop at in London back in it's day. Basically, just a great label for getting hold of all those classic House tunes, and better recordings than the Trax releases too.
