LAFMS was formed by
Joe Potts,
Rick Potts and
Chip Chapman in 1974 and were soon joined by
Tom Recchion and member of
Doo-Dooettes. It was a collective of like-minded artists inspired by the likes of
Captain Beefheart and
Frank Zappa. Some of those in the collective included
Smegma,
Le Forte Four and
Doo-Dooettes and some other groups interested in noise and improvisation.
10XCD Box-set called "The Lowest Forms Of Music" introduced the history of LAFMS collective to the masses.
According to the discography in
LAFMS: The Lowest Form Of Music, LAFMS#09 would be John Duncan
Organic, however there is no mention of this catalog number on that LP, and John Duncan has stated this was not an actually L.A.F.M.S. release, which is why it is not included in the box set.
