Los Hermanos

Profile:
The Beginning
Los Hermanos is the brainchild of DJ Rolando, Gerald Mitchell and Mike Banks. 4 years ago, the Knights Of The Jaguar EP inspired a new trend in techno music, steering it away from the barrage of unending and monotonous drum patterns that were being released at the time. Our label is about raising the standard not only for techno, but dance music in general. By fusing the funk and soul of Detroit techno with the feel of latin rhythms, Los Hermanos destroy the boundaries between house and techno. The result is music that is modern, yet firmly grounded in musical tradition.

Reviews & Discussion

Review by MikeF May 29, 2002
Los Hermanos means 'the brothers' and proves what can be accomplished through a multiracial interface of rhythm and sound. DJ Rolando's releases on UR, along with Gerald Mitchell's releases on UR, Metroplex and Soul City established both as individuals - now they come together and form Los Hermanos. Hispanics and Blacks often work together in Detroit, although it is usually not by choice on an assembly line, or inside a corporate machine. But these two brothers have chosen to work within the realm of sound, as did some of their influences WAR, Santana and Chick Corea's Return to Forever. Los Hermanos will explore what is digitally possible through an electronic cultural interface.
