This was always my favorite rave/techno/alternative remix service from the early 90's. When the highly acclaimed Rhythm Stick service needed a change and a new direction, the producers came up with Master Beat. The track selection was very relevant to the time, and the mixes featured excellent sound quality, tight editing, additional production, and lots of cool samples to keep the mix interesting. Make sure to check out Lords Of Acid "Lust Medley" (great megamix), Electroset "How Does It Feel" (with extra Blue Monday samples), Smart-E's "Sesame's Treet" (two different mixes), J'N'J "The Ballet" (full of Phantom spoken samples), Children's Stories "The Chocolate Factory" (combines both 12" mixes with additional Wonka samples), NRG "He Never Lost His Hardcore" (Halloween theme mixed in!), Annie Lennox "Little Bird" (acapella over 2 Unlimited "Get Ready For This"). Besides the vinyl, all mixes were available on 8 cd's (with bonus tracks). These are worth hunting down!
For similar themed remix services, check out Twitch, Metropolis, Glow, Techno-Pop, M, Art Of Mix: Precision, Hot Tracks: Roadkill, Razormaid: Seismic Sound, and the earlier Ultimix: Rampage issues. Now get listening!
