Legendary Label that was always at the top of its game. Respect!

Hi. Pete the founder of Nukleuz here. Thanks for all the support through the years. We have sold something like 3 million 12"s and continue to this day to sell thousands of digital releases monthly all over the world on many exciting digital platforms. I have to say thanks to all the people who contributed so much with the number of producers running into the hundreds and the number of staff over the years more than 20. When I started Media UK in 1991 it was normal for labels to have pretty short shelf lives. Music is a fashion and is very fast moving and you have to be very nimble to keep up as a label. Its difficult to name too many labels that are still around from then but a few survive.
The extraordinary thing about Nukleuz is it covered so many sub genres. Some people think of it as the Green label ( essentially the UK releases of the Italian sister label's BXR label. Essentially Mauro Picotto's take on stripped out tech trance). Some see it as the UK hard house of the Blue label. Massive in the Uk and to an extent in Australia but never took off in Europe of any note. Some would argue that Holland bought into it but it was quite limited in comparison to the UK. Some love the UK techy sound of the purple label. You will find different people naming different favourite tunes till the cows come home. I am just so proud that so much great music came through our doors.
Most of us grow up with a certain sound we love for the rest of our lives and some comments on here reflect that. I was 30 years old when I employed BK essentially as my tea boy at the age of 16. I signed Nick Sentience as a 17 year old and Jakazid as a 16 year old. I could feel their energy and wanted to support it.These very young men all became great producers in their own fields. jakazid was interesting as it was us reacting to the new youtube age before that became the norm. For me the 12" had died ( not the music the format) and the creation of bootleg videos by a 15 year old seemed so much more in the spirit of Nukleuz than yet another Hard House track.
The world has changed dramatically now but we still release very regularly and still have big support for what we do whether is a digital compilation or new artist release. All new releases are posted up on www.nukleuz.com and most of the old catalogue is available on most platforms.

This is one of the most important labels in hard dance history.

But not only is it responsible for the UK releases of continental hard dance, it is also home to some of the very best producers and remixers the UK has ever seen.

Even though it was a loss for them to see BK and Ed Real leave to found another great label (Riot!) they still deliver pretty much high quality releases.

With their current focus on digital releases they keep true hard trance alive, as shown in PHATT's new release 'Damage Control' whilst on the other side their UK hardcore releases are good, but just not my cup of tea.

Although the label's best years have passed, it still pretty much guarantees premium quality music.

Good releases came to end not only because of BK's retirement from label. In 1999-2002 Nukleuz was a quality mark among all harddance labels and the music was another quality. Now such styles like hardhouse and hardtrance slowly but with confidence become smth like pumping house and it's really pity. Nevertheless it a common thing and sooner or later it happens with electronic music, good tunes are still release. Thanx to all artists from Nucleuz team for awesome tracks and many many hours of pleasure from listening to them.

Well, what a fall from grace it has been for Nukleuz. But then, losing BK as your in house engineer/producer and Ed Real running things, you could guess this is what would ultimately happen.

This was THE label for pounding trance 1999. The 12"s used to sell like hot cakes, Judge Jules pretty much playlisted every "Green" release around 1999/2000.

But since around about 2003 the label has just fallen apart. Now relying on rehashes of old classics and stuck for ideas. It used to be a sign of quality, did the Nukleuz "Green" label. You could almost walk into a record store (remember those) and select a Nukleuz Green track and buy it, without listening to it, knowing you were getting quality.

This is the label that pretty much launched the careers not only of BK, PTP, Ed Real, but also Mario Piu and one Mauro Picotto.

The sad demise of a once great, pioneering label.
