Partisan

Profile:
After nasty business with Moving Shadow in 1997, five key members of staff (Caroline Butler, Simon Colebrooke, Sean O'Keeffe, Paul Rhodes and Gavin Newman) walked out of the Moving Shadow offices and started their own Partisan label with the backing of One Little Indian. In 1999, after One Little Indian financial crisis, label slowly faded away.

A great and under rated label that had a great (although short) run. Here's an interview I did with Miss Caroline back in 2000 about the label.

Partisan was a fantastic jungle/drum and bass label. They generally tended to put out very abstract and atmospheric releases. Though they were not above a gritty funky number or two, their tunes could never be described as peak hour dancefloor stormers. Featuring atypical tunes from some big names and some lesser names, Partisan tunes work as well on the mind as on the ass. - Tom
