R.A.S. stands for Reticular Activating System, a combined group of neurochemicals present in the human brain which regulate and govern our states of consciousness.
Based on the ideal of exploring the darker crevices of techno with an experimental flare, R.A.S. Records, founded by David Bitterman (DBIT), sets forth to discover new and uncharted territory in the electronic realm. Based out of Detroit/Chicago, the R.A.S. roster of artists and musicians present a diversity of interests and styles, from the banging moody techno of Ian Lehman, the Industrial influenced techno and soundscapes of Luka Baumann and Grubi Kovsh (Grovskopa), pure experimental mind warp plates from Kero, and the experimental influenced dark techno of DBIT. R.A.S. strives to provide a meeting place, a common ground for these and other diverse artists to cross pollinate and explore what is possible when we begin to blur the genre boundaries with a shared vision in mind.
The R.A.S. roster of artists bring a multimedia approach to their work. Many of our audio sculptors work with live video mixing, photography, graphic design, and programming, to bring unique approaches and angles to any media they choose for a project. Our live events try to incorporate as many of these aspects as are balanced and appropriate to the particular circumstance.
