Reviews & Discussion

Review by Vinyl-is-The-future Jul 04, 2006 (edited over 3 years ago)
A fabulous, truly underground label, Red Melon has got to be one of my very favourite labels around. Specialising in dubby, techy Deep House these guys have put out some amazing work. No radio friendly edits here, this label is STRICTLY FOR THE CLUBS and that's the secret to it's continued success.

The Red Melon sound can be occasionally self-indulgent and overblown, but that's rarely the case. They usually get it right, and when it's right it's perfect. Key tracks for me include - "Toons (Terry Lee Brown Jr. Mix)"; "19¢ Trumpet (Dano's Melon Dub)"; "Show U Love (Dano's Show U Dub)" and "Transit" but there are many, many more.

Getting Red Melon sounds used to be like getting a needle from a fuck-off huge haystack. Now, with the oustanding "Red Melon Export" series, available on CD and (best of all) on iTunes, there really is no excuse not to inject some Melon into your life if you're a real House Head. Go buy the ''Export'' albums already!
