Schranz

Profile:
This is not a real label. In early 2005, unknown producers released a whole series of hard techno (schranz) white label bootleg remixes of well-known pop and dance tracks, such as Underworld's 'Born Slippy' and Eric Prydz' 'Call On Me'

Reviews & Discussion

Review by BlicQ Oct 05, 2009
In Response to the above reviews I've got to say I totally disagree. Although alot alot of these remixes are not the most intelligently mixed, many of them just essentially 2 tunes played at once (eg Rebel yelle , 51st state), they carry a big impact and should bring a big fat smile to any fans of the songs.

Who needs intelligent tekno anyway.

All in all alot of true bangers here reminiscent of the P Series (which in my humble opinion is a slightly better collection of this sort of thing)

I think the last comment was a very narrow minded view indeed. Ill agree a whole set of this stuff would be enough to make you want to top yourself. But If like me your using just one schranz techno tune every so often, it has the power to turn even the straightest beer boy into a raving mess! Ive seen it with my own eyes! I recently Played a gig in Wales in front of a couple of hundred die-hard Hardstylers, and dropped 'She's a Schranzy' the Tom Jones bootleg in the middle of the set. The result was crazy!! I now get this tune requested all the time whenever I play. Schranz Techno mixed with Hardstyle and Hardtrance makes a truly awesome blend. Unlike most techno, its got the big balls to match that of harder styles of music.

SHRANZ ROCK'S!!!

Generally i like bootleg mixes a lot. But they have
to sound fresh and new as well as well produced.
But this series? I don´t like this bootleg.
Sounds like the tracks get produced in 1h.
This is cheap crap in my opinion. The worst
part of the whole production is the mastering.
This bootlegs mostly sound like shit. But the kids
out there love it. Dunno why because there is no
quality and no innovative production skills.
Typical german productions of the new generation.
Hard and fast, nothing else. There is no soul in
this kind of music.

While there are so many excellent and creative hardtechno tracks out there, all the releases listed here perfectly show why so many people hate this kind of music so much.

Nothing more than a fast bassdrum, hi's & claps mangled trough some distortion filters, lot's of repetitive filter-effects and then some vocal/melody sample from a well known pop track... one title sounds like another, makes you think this stuff is produced with one basic set of instrument samples and only the vocal/melody sample changes.

wait, we had this some years ago when gabbber became popular all over the world, right? boring, retarded and repetitive music, where a track sounded more predictive than a washing machine in action....

....and still, people seem to love it. music for the mass market, the breakthrough for hardtechno into the commercial clubszene, the new "scooter" for schranz-kids, the techno-comeback of gabber?

not for me... *yawn*, next...
