Somewhere In Detroit

Profile:
Somewhere In Detroit, aka S.I.D., is a sublabel of Underground Resistance. Its seven first releases were only available... Somewhere In Detroit. It was then followed by Local 3000, then resurrected in 2006 for the release of the Interstellar Fugitives 2 - Destruction Of Order compilation.
"The S.I.D. series 12's were EP's that were supposed to be exclusive to the Submerge's Somewhere In Detroit store. The idea was that the only way you could get them was to physically visit the shop on the ground floor of Submerge's building. A few of them occasionally turn up at other shops, though. There were a few previously unreleased tracks from Drexciya, UR, and a couple of other artists released this way. Thanks to Submerge's refusal to play the "release and delete" game, though, these don't fetch the exorbitant prices a lot of other limited availability releases do."

Fantastic stuff - I'd heard about them from the Rub A Dub guys and it took me several trips to Submerge before they (Mike Banks and Rolando) would sell me the whole set. To be honest the only true S.I.D's are the first 5 - the other two ended up getting distributed round the world.
