As a result of the joint venture between Sony Music Entertainment and Bertelsmann Music Group on August 5, 2004, the Danish division was named Sony BMG Music Entertainment (Denmark).
When Sony acquired Bertelsmann's 50% stake in the company in August 2008, the Danish division took back it's old name, Sony Music Entertainment (Denmark), as a result of the companys new name, Sony Music Entertainment Inc.
