Launched in 1984 with the release of the 12" "Beatronic," Techno Hop Records was the brainchild of Andre Manuel aka The Unknown DJ. The label and its music production arm Big Beat Productions were created to export the emerging talents of LA's urban electronic musician, DJ and MC community beyond the bedrooms and rental halls and on to the world stage. Home to X-Men and ICE T, Comptons Most Wanted and Facade, King Tee and DJ Pooh, many well known artist called Techno Hop Records home over the years and many more appeared on Techno Hop releases and tapped the talents of Big Beat Productions to catapult their careers.
