To take a very reductionist view on it, you could call this a breakcore label, just to make things simple. But there's actually a lot more to it. Thac0 just releases great music that is generally on the harder, darker and less accessible side of things. They have a very refreshing take on things in that each release is a work of art, both music-wise and in the presentation. The first three releases have all been done on colored vinyl and with full original artwork. In fact, I buy multiple copies just so that I'll have at least one to play and one to hang on my wall. No joke, the artwork is that good. It really reaffirms my love for vinyl because it's so striking to see that big 12" x 12" piece of art and to pull out that colored slab of wax. And I really don't mean to put the music in the backseat here, because everything they've put out has been experimental music of the highest caliber.

It's a very personal approach they are taking and I really hope they continue it with every release they do. With labels like Addict and Low Res no longer being as active as they once were, it's great to see a new label stepping in to showcase the lesser known talents that exist right in our own backyard. Along with No Room For Talent, this is one of the most cutting edge labels the United States has to offer.
